WHITE VINE STYLE
Enjoy learning the skills of applying gold leaf with exquisite effect and painting with gouache using a fine brush to create your own illuminated initial. We will be working on Roman-style capitals decorated in a White Vine design, inspired by Italian manuscripts. The letters are gilded then embellished using three colours with subtle finishing touches that make the letters sing. The traditional colours of vermillion, ultramarine and oxide of chromium (green) produce a classic initial, while a combination of different hues or colours produces a more personal piece. I always enjoy teaching this style and it will be exciting to revisit it again with fresh ideas. You'll be carefully guided through the process of tracing down, gilding, decorating and detailing to produce a beautifully finished handmade letter. Suitable for all levels of ability. All materials are included in the price. Fees are non-refundable except in the event of cancellation by the tutor. £60
